       ROLLER SKATING LESSONS

Skate City Q.C.A. offers a four week skating program that will teach 
basic and intermediate skating skills.  Our program is designed for boys and girls of all ages.   Classes are every Saturday for 4 weeks from 12 to 12:45 p.m.

The cost for all classes will be $49.  This includes the use of rental skates.  Skaters may  bring their own skates or in-lines. Each student is welcome to stay free of charge for the other skate sessions excluding Friday nights while enrolled in the program

Skate City is working hard to provide a safe, but fun environment for everyone.  We hope our services encourage you to become  Skate City regulars.

Duties & Responsibilities of a roller skating center operator

It’s the responsibility of the operator to the extent practicable to:

Post duties of roller skaters and spectators and the duties and obligations of the operator as prescribed in this act in conspicuous places in at least 3 locations in the roller skating rink.

 Comply with all roller skating rink safety standards published by the roller skating rink operators association, including but not limited to the proper maintenance of roller skating equipment and roller skating surfaces.

 Maintain the stability and legibility of all signs, symbols, and posted notices required by this act.

 When the rink is open for sessions, have at least one floor supervisor on duty for every 200 skaters.

 Maintain the skating surface in a reasonably safe condition, and clean and inspect the skating surface before each session.

 Maintain in good condition the railings, kickboards, and walls surrounding the skating surfaces.

 In rinks with step-up or step-down skating surfaces ensure that the covering on the riser is securely fastened

 Install fire extinguishers and inspect fire extinguishers at recommended intervals.

 Inspect emergency lighting units periodically to insure the lights are in proper order.

 Keep exit lights and lights in service areas on when skating surface lights are turned off during special numbers.

 Check rental skates on a regular basis to insure the skates are in good mechanical condition.

 Comply with all applicable State and Local safety codes.

 

  Rink Rules and code of conduct & Risk Policy

1. Maintain reasonable control of speed and course at all times
2. Read and abide by all posted signs and warnings and cooperate with the rink staff.
3. Maintain a proper lookout to avoid other skaters, objects, or conditions on the surface of the rink.
4. Accept responsibility for knowing the range of his/her ability while on skates, and skate within that ability.
5. Leave the rink surface when resurfacing is taking place.
6. Food and drink are not allowed on the rink surface or the surrounding railings.
7. Refrain from acting in a manner that may cause or contribute to injury of themselves or another person.
8. Do not throw or leave any foreign objects on the rink surface.
9. Do not instigate or become involved in any type of altercation with any skater or spectator, or engage in any abrasive, abusive, or disorderly conduct.

10. Assumption of risk agreement: By engaging in skating, skaters are deemed to have knowledge of and have assumed the inherent risks of skating which include, but are not limited to:

  • Injuries that result from collisions or contact with other skaters or other individuals who are on the skating surface.
  • Injuries that result from falls.
  • Injuries that involve objects or artificial structures that are properly within the path of the skater or adjacent to the skating surface.

Duties & Responsibilities of roller skaters

It is the responsibility of each roller skater to: 

Maintain reasonable control of the skaters speed and course at all times.

Heed all posted signs and warnings.

Maintain a proper outlook to avoid other roller skaters and objects

 
Accept the responsibility for knowing the range of the skater’s own ability to negotiate the intended direction of travel while on roller skates and to skate within the limits of that ability.

 Refrain from acting in a manner that may cause or contribute to the injury of the skater or any other person.

Assumption of Risk: Collisions; Injuries..  Roller skater and spectators are deemed to have knowledge of and to assume the inherent risks of roller skating. Thos risks not otherwise attributable to an operator’s breach of his or her duties as set forth in section 15 include, but are not limited to, injuries that involve structures such as support columns, walls, doors, lockers, benches, railings, and other properly placed structures within the building.


Bar Of Suit; Complete Defense… The assumption of risk set forth in section 25 is a complete bar of suit and is a complete defense to a suit against operator by a roller skater or spectator for injuries resulting in the assumed risks of skating unless the operator has violated his or her duties or responsibilities under this act.
